Vertex Ventures China, founded in 2008, has offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. It is currently managing both Dollar and RMB funds, with assets under management of over ¥10 billion.

It provides funding support and value-add services to portfolio companies in their growth stage and enjoys close relationships with China’s top decision makers, talent and influencers.

Our Portfolio

Horizon Robotics is one of the world’s most valuable, unicorn AI startups. Vertex Ventures led investment in its Series A round in 2016. It also secured follow-on funding from SK group, Inter and the CITIC securities.

Chipscreen is a leading enterprise of small molecule innovative medicines in China. Vertex Ventures was the first institutional investor to back Chipscreen when it was founded in 2001. The Company announced its IPO on STAR Market of SSE in 2019.

91 Wireless has been one of the largest Android app stores in China. It was acquired in 2014 by Baidu for $1.9B. Vertex Ventures achieved over $100M returns after the investment in 2012.

LELECHA is a new upmarket tea brand of “Tea Drink + Soft Bun”, which combines tea and soft European bags to create different brand development models. Vertex Ventures led its $30m pre-Series A round for LELECHA.

Geek+ is a leading robotics and AI technologies provider and China’s supplier of warehousing and logistics solutions. Vertex Ventures led Series A+ funding round in 2017. The Series B round was completed in late 2018, led by Warburg Pincus.

IGG is a renowned video game developer and publisher dedicated to bringing amazing games to gamers all over the world. Vertex Ventures invested in its B round funding. In 2013, IGG was listed on HKSE (799.HK).

Yunyinggu is a display technology company that provides color rendering solutions to enhance display resolution and color. Vertex Ventures led the investment in its Series A round. It also secured follow-on funding from Qualcomm and BOE.

iOranges is a national-level high-tech enterprise specializing in 3C automatic assembly process and technology research and application. Vertex Ventures, as the earliest investor, led the Series Pre-A round funding in 2017. iOrange also secured follow-on funding from GGV and MatrixPartners China.

SolidEnergy is a developer and producer of advanced semi solid Li-Metal technology, the lightest rechargeable cells in the world that can be manufactured using existing Li-ion manufacturing infrastructure. Vertex Ventures led its Series A round. It secured follow-on funding from SK Group, GE and SAIC Motor.

Changba is a smart phone app offering users a portable solo KTV booth. Vertex Ventures invested in its Series C round and has exited with good returns.

NEIWAI is a famous online women’s underwear and lingerie brand. Vertex Ventures led investment in its Series B round.

73 Hours designs and sells entry-level luxury high heels. Vertex Ventures led investment in Series A round. 73 Hours has been acquired by Belle International in 2018.

Mobike is a bike sharing service to fulfil urban short trips by combining innovation and today’s IoT technology. Vertex Ventures led investment in its Series B+ round in 2016. Mobike has been fully acquired by Meituan (3960.HK) in 2018.

Marrymemo, a wedding planner application, helps soon-to-wed couples in China with the planning and sharing of their dream wedding. Vertex Ventures led investment in its Series A round.

Phoenix Healthcare Group has been China’s largest private hospital group. It became the first mainland hospital firm listed on HKSE (1515.HK) in 2013. Vertex Ventures made strategic investment in it in 2010.
